Cache Creek Casino Resort in Northern California closed Sunday and remains shuttered Monday morning due to a systems infrastructure failure, according to a post on the tribal casino’s website.
“Due to an unforeseen systems infrastructure failure, Cache Creek Casino Resort is unable to operate fully at this time,” Sunday’s post said. “We have made the unfortunate, but necessary decision to close the resort,” which it did at 7 p.m.
Earlier in the day, the casino announced it was experiencing a “widespread” outage that started around 3:30 a.m. and remained “problematic.” Cache Creek first discouraged guests from visiting the property, which is located in Brooks along Highway 16 about an hour east of Sacramento, before shutting down entirely.
Cache Creek remained closed as of 9 a.m. Monday, social media posts by the tribal casino indicate, and no estimated time for reopening has been given. The property says it will inform customers via social media and its website as soon as it is able to reopen, and that it will directly notify any guests whose reservations at the resort may be affected.
“This temporary closure is not due to COVID-19,” the Cache Creek Casino Resort wrote on Facebook in response to multiple users’ comments speculating, without evidence, that the closure was actually related to the coronavirus pandemic.
Cache Creek says its adjoining golf course is unaffected by the system outage and remains open.
