New Jersey commercial tax preparers are invited to the Tax Practitioner Institute sponsored by the New Jersey Association of Public Accountants (NJAPA), Internal Revenue Service, the New Jersey Division of Taxation, and cooperating colleges/universities. It is geared toward the intermediate and advanced tax preparer and no pre-requisite is required. The materials will be available online and food will be provided at the seminar including evaluations.

Registration desk will open at 8:00 am. The session begins promptly at 8:30 am, with breaks and lunch, and concludes at 4:30 pm. Eight (8) CPE credits will be issued in Taxation and six (6) CE for EA's and those in the Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP), to those who complete the session. The pre-registration fee for commercial tax preparers is $150 ($35 for full time Students, ID required, no certificate issued). Those who register at the door will be required to pay a $165 fee. In order to qualify for the lower remittances, payments must be received no later than one week before the scheduled seminar. There will be no refunds.

TAS Problem Solving Day

The Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) will be available to assist practicioners in person with client tax problems they have not been able to resolve with the IRS. TAS will be present at each of 2019 Annual Federal State Tax Workshops. See more details here

Glenn has worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 30 years. He began in Taxpayer Service in 1989 as a Taxpayer Service Specialist until becoming a Revenue Agent in 1994. During his 11 years as an Agent, Glenn worked in the Examination Problem Resolution Unit as a caseworker, a cooperating Agent for Criminal Investigations and was a Taxpayer Advocate at the model walk-in office in Edison. Glenn is also a certified instructor for the IRS and has spent 4 years training the new incoming Revenue Agents from 2001 to 2005.Additionally, Glenn worked in the former Taxpayer Education & Communication division during its standup in 2001 before it was realigned into the Communications, Liaison and Disclosure division which is now Communication & Stakeholder Outreach. Alexis is a Taxpayer Service Representative in the Taxation University Branch. Abra has been with the Division for eighteen years and has been an instructor since 2008. She schedules and takes the lead on training our Customer Service Center employees. Lisa recently celebrated her 9 year anniversary with the Division. Throughout this time, she has gained extensive experience as an Auditor in the Inheritance and Estate Tax Branch. Lisa's various roles include auditing, special projects, interacting with and aiding the public with Inheritance and Estate Tax issues, and assisting in the department as needed.Prior to her employment with the State of New Jersey, Lisa was an accountant in the private sector.Her knowledge and comfort with both the private and public sector have played an integral part in her success with Taxation. William has been an auditor with the New Jersey Division of Taxation, Inheritance and Estate Tax Branch since 2006. His vast knowledge of Inheritance and Estate Tax has put him in a multitude of different roles including Help Desk Coordinator, Public Speaker, In-house Trainer, and Professional and Financial Sector Trainer. In addition he is also part of the information section of the Inheritance & Estate Tax Branch. William came to the Division after 20+ years in private industry with experience in MIS, Operations, and as a Controller.William has a BA from Rutgers University, New Brunswick and a MBA from Monmouth University, West Long Branch, NJ. His Education is in Accounting, Management, and Marketing. William is very involved in his community holding positions with several different organizations including, Planning Team manager on the Planning Group of NJ-TF1 Urban Search and Rescue Team, Firefighter, Extrication Specialist, & Chaplain for Silverton Volunteer Fire Co., and Technical Rescue Specialist for the Toms River Technical Rescue Task Force.He is a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather.
