This equates to just about a 15 minute drive, which can extend to close to a half hour during rush hour.

Called a day ahead and 6 of the 8 $15/night spots were available that night, and found that they don't take reservations. When we arrived the next night they were all full, and was told that overnight parking was not allowed. Casino is NOT open 24/7. Spots are pull-throughs in the paved parking lot.

Stayed 3 days in February 2016. Very quiet. $15 a day. Electricity and water only. You take an available spot and pay at the security office. I'm not a gambler but went to the show on saturday night.

New price for overnight: $15.00/night.
No sewer/black water hookup but you can drive over to the opposite side at the horsemen entrance (east side of the casino) and dump there before hooking up and again before departing. A little inconvenient but still nice to have.
30/50 Amp electricity is available at the 8 sites as is fresh water.
No trees so no shade. You're located in the parking lot but away from the most-traveled portion of it and only in the area where employees drive past to park off behind the casino.
If I am not mistaken, these spaces are located right next to the rack track and #8 is the closest.
At this writing space #3 is out of commission.
It's first come/first served here so, you may not get a space during busy times but also, if I am not mistaken, there is plenty of spaces to park at the west-most perimeter and probably for free. Last night I saw 2 tractor trailers come in and park there overnight with no one having a problem with that.

Rv sites rent for $ 10.00 now. Register for your spot at the security desk inside the casino. You are allowed to park for free close to the road and farthest from the casino at any time, you do not need to register unless you hook up.
The buffet is $ 10.00 and was worth the money.

We've stayed here several times in the past, but they have recently changed their policies. Our most recent stay was in Sept. 2009. The price per night for the 8 RV spots with hookups has been raised to $10. You are no longer allowed to dry camp in the parking lot if one of the 8 RV hookup spots are available. Don't know about dry camping if all spots are full.

About Sunland Park Race Track and Casino
Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino opened its doors in 1959 as just a racetrack. In the 90’s, horse racing around the nation was a declining industry, so New Mexico designed legislation allowing racetracks to incorporate slot machines into their business as an effort to save New Mexico horse racing. Twenty six percent of Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino’s revenue goes to taxes, which in turn go to New Mexico’s general fund. An additional twenty percent of revenue goes towards the horseman’s account. All monies in the horseman’s account contributes to horse racing purses at Sunland Park and has had a profound effect on the quality of our live race meet.
When Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino received its gaming license in 1999, some provisions between the Native American casinos and New Mexico horse tracks were agreed upon. The agreement includes: alcohol may not be served in the casino; the casino can only be opened 112 hours per week; no comps can be handed out in the casino; state-imposed maximum number of slot machines allowed; simulcast horse races must be shown everyday; and we must race a minimum of 4 days a week during live season.
